The 9th General Convention of the National Folk and Duo Song Foundation of Nepal is scheduled to take place from February 13 to 15, 2026. The dates were confirmed following a central committee meeting, according to the foundation’s central chairperson, Rita Thapa.
Ahead of the general convention, district-level conventions are set for August 30, 2025 and province-level conventions are planned for June 11, 2025. Deputy Secretary General Shirish Devkota stated that representatives for the province and general conventions will be finalized on the same day as the district conventions.
Chairperson Thapa also announced that the foundation will begin distributing and managing memberships through a digital system. The general convention will be responsible for electing a new working committee for a three-year term. The venue for the event has yet to be finalized.
Rita Thapa Magar, who was elected unopposed in the previous convention, currently serves as the first female president of the foundation. Well-known folk singer Pashupati Sharma holds the position of senior vice president. The foundation currently has around 30,000 members, including 3,000 life members, and operates through more than 100 branch committees across various regions and abroad.
